When Can You Take Protein?

When Can You Use Protein

When you walk into any gym nowadays, you’re likely to hear the rattling sound of a shaker bottle. Protein powders, bars, and other supplements have become so integrated into the workout culture that failing to have a shake during the day would be like skipping a meal. Whilst everyone has their own workout plans and eating schedules, finding the best the way to include protein into your diet can be a little tricky. However, there are a few easy ways you can do this:

  1. Meal Replacement

When you’re rushing out of the door late for work in the morning, the last thing you have time for is to make a quick breakfast. Why not make a super shake with a scoop (or two) from some Skinny Shake® powder and add a source of vegetables, fruits and healthy fats into it?

2 scoops of Skinny Shake® powder
Water, almond milk, or skim milk
2 handfuls of vegetables
2 handfuls of fruit (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons of healthy fat (example: seeds)
Blend well in a mixer

  1. Post Workout

The best time to consume protein is within the 30-minute period after a workout so that the protein can be quickly delivered to the muscles. Your muscles, at this point, are like a sponge and need instant nutrition for aided recovery and growth. Additionally, because solid foods take a lot longer to digest, it is best to digest protein in the form of a supplement (like a shake) because digesting powders/fluids is a lot easier for your body to do than solids.

  1. Right Before Bed

The average person sleeps for around six to eight hours, which is a long time to go without protein. Skinny Shake® protein powders are the best protein supplements to use before bed because they have a low percentage of fat, calories, carbohydrates, and sugars, which prevents blood sugar spikes, heavy calories sitting in your stomach, and bloating. This inevitably results in a peaceful night sleep, allowing your body to easily absorb the nutrients contained in the Skinny Shake® (for more information, please check out our Bad Protein vs Good Protein post).

Same thing again, your body has just gone without proper nutrition for six to eight hours. As suggested above, you can have a super protein shake as a meal replacement in the morning but you could also have it as a bonus ingredient inside some fluffy pancakes. 1. Inside Snacks & Meals

Sneaking a bit of protein into meals and snacks is probably one of the most exciting ways to consume protein. You can add protein into almost anything; a few common examples are flapjacks, custards, and cheesecakes.  However, our favorite has got to be Chocolate Protein Brownies using our very own chocolate Skinny Shake® powder.
