When Can You Use Protein

When you walk into any gym nowadays, you’re likely to hear the rattling sound of a shaker bottle. Protein powders, bars, and other supplements have become so integrated into the workout culture that failing to have a shake during the day would be like skipping a meal. Whilst everyone has their own workout plans and eating schedules, finding the best the way to include protein into your diet can be a little tricky. However, there are a few easy ways you can do this:

  1. Meal Replacement

When you’re rushing out of the door late for work in the morning, the last thing you have time for is to make a quick breakfast. Why not make a super shake with a scoop (or two) from some Skinny Shake® powder and add a source of vegetables, fruits and healthy fats into it?

Men:

2 scoops of Skinny Shake® powder
Water, almond milk, or skim milk
2 handfuls of vegetables
2 handfuls of fruit (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons of healthy fat (example: seeds)
Blend well in a mixer

Women:

1-2 cups of vegetables

  1. Post Workout 

The best time to consume protein is within the 30-minute period after a workout so that the protein can be quickly delivered to the muscles. Your muscles, at this point, are like a sponge and need instant nutrition for aided recovery and growth. Additionally, because solid foods take a lot longer to digest, it is best to digest protein in the form of a supplement (like a shake) because digesting powders/fluids is a lot easier for your body to do than solids.

  1. Right Before Bed
